Claddagh Jewellery

A unique Irish symbol of love! The hands of friendship, Crown of Loyalty and the heart symbolising Love. The tradition dates back to the 16th century when a native of Galway City, Richard Joyce was captured by Algerian pirates on his way to the west Indies , when he eventually returned he settled in the small village of Claddagh just outside the old city walls of the City of Galway where he crafted the first claddagh ring. As the years passed, the powerful sentiment that the Claddagh evokes of Love, Friendship and Loyalty endures. Our master craftsmen have now made available the symbol in a range of beautiful pieces.

Claddagh Rings

The claddagh ring is what we do best. Made in our workshops in Galway City all of our rings carry an Irish Hallmark. This is a guarantee not just from us but a government agency that you are getting what we are telling you.

The claddagh ring originated in Galway in the 16th Century, Ricahrd Joyce a city merchant and a member of one of the 14 tribes of Galway, was captured by moor pirates and was put into slavery as a goldsmiths aid. Eventually he was freed and on his return to Galway his fiance was still waiting for him. His ring showed hands of friendship, heart of love and a crown of loyalty.

Crosses

The High Cross is the best known of all the Early Christian Symbols in Ireland. Their characteristic feature being the circle which connects each of the arms, some are as tall as twenty feet, others much smaller and plain. Rarer, magnificently ornate examples stand at Monasterboice and Clonmacnoise.
